What are Monaural Beats?

Monaural beats are similar to binaural beats in respect that two signals are combined. The signal produces a wave or beat like pattern. The signals or tones can be played in two speakers separately and will mix in the air before it reaches the intended listener or can be combined with equipment or software before it is played out a speaker.

Monaural beats are more effective than binaural beats at entraining the brain, however, they become ineffective at entrainment below 4Hz. Also, mixing monaural beats with too much noise can reduce it’s effectiveness on entrainment. When monaural beats are created, the tones must be of equal intensity so that the sound is clean and pure.

Monaural beats can be used with speakers or earphones. However, if you choose to use speakers, please keep background or distracting noises to a minimum.
